DFG approves funding for Research Training Group: ‘Document - Text – Edition’

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the continuation application of the University of Wuppertal to fund a Research Training Group (DFG Graduiertenschule) centered around the topic of: "Document - Text – Edition. Conditions and Forms of Transformation and Modeling: a Transdisciplinary Perspective".

Bela Gipp is among the scientific directors of this Research Training Group at the University of Wuppertal. The Research Training Group additionally collaborates with the Theological College Wuppertal/Bethel, which possesses a strong research focus in the area of the text editions. Texts in the form of editions are the authoritative component crucial to all historically and philologically focused sciences, and furthermore, form the starting point for all research and teaching.

In the now approved second phase, the DFG Research Training Group will support transdisciplinary research in subjects such as the Digital Humanities, Literature Studies, Data & Knowledge Engineering, Print and Media Technology, History, and Classical Philology (among others).

The second funding period of the Wuppertal Research Training Group will run from October 2020 to March 2025. The funding will continue to employ Ph.D. and postdoctoral researchers (we will post open positions soon). Currently, twelve doctoral students and one postdoctoral researcher are working at the Research Training Group, as well as twelve student research assistants.
